A.G. Edwards Selects Morningstar Advisor Workstation

Morningstar Data and Analysis Now Available to Approximately 7,000 Financial Consultants

ST. LOUIS, April 5, 2004 - A.G. Edwards financial consultants now have access to a customized version of the Morningstar® Advisor WorkstationSM Enterprise Edition, an online planning system. The application will provide detailed analyses and data on mutual funds, variable annuities and exchange-traded funds, as well as offer comprehensive fund portfolio analysis tools directly from the financial consultant's desktop.

"In addition to fund fact sheets and hypothetical illustrations, clients will receive portfolio-level reports that include the quality information for which Morningstar is known," said Mike Scafati, senior vice president and manager of Managed Products for A.G. Edwards. "Financial consultants will be able to provide this information to their clients right from their desktops."

The Web-based system offers reporting options ranging from a one-page investment profile to a multiple-page portfolio analysis. In addition, Morningstar will provide its industry-leading investment analysis tools, which A.G. Edwards financial consultants can use to review a portfolio and make investment recommendations.

"Through this system our financial consultants can further analyze their clients' current holdings and get a more complete picture on how funds, annuities and other securities have performed," said Steve Garrett, vice president and manager of Private Client Services for A.G. Edwards. "The Morningstar Advisor Workstation will give our financial consultants one more tool to help build and monitor clients' portfolios."

The workstation will be integrated with A.G. Edwards' existing systems to enable financial consultants to easily generate Morningstar analysis of client accounts. In the second phase of the rollout later this year, to augment A.G. Edwards' existing research capabilities, financial consultants will have access to Morningstar's stock database.

"We've successfully implemented many customized front-to-back office applications that seamlessly connect with an institution's internal systems and infrastructure," said Chris Boruff, president of Morningstar's advisor business. "We're delighted that A.G. Edwards has selected the Advisor Workstation as an integrated set of tools to support its business."
