Art Lutschaunig Joins Morningstar Investment Services as Chief Investment Officer

CHICAGO, Aug 21, 2001 – Morningstar Investment Services, Inc., a registered investment advisor and wholly-owned subsidiary of Chicago-based Morningstar, Inc., today announced that Art Lutschaunig has joined the company as chief investment officer. 

"Art has helped build investment programs for some of the most respected institutions in the industry and brings 20 years of investment-management experience to Morningstar," said Tom Florence, president of Morningstar Investment Services. "Having worked with Art in the past, I am delighted that he is joining the company. He will play an instrumental role in shaping our portfolio design and monitoring processes." 

As chief investment officer for Morningstar Investment Services, Lutschaunig will be responsible for overseeing a staff of analysts and portfolio strategists. Lutschaunig, 43, will also manage all aspects of the portfolio engineering process for Morningstar® Managed Portfolios. A fee-based, discretionary investment-management program, Morningstar® Managed Portfolios is a turnkey solution featuring mutual-fund portfolios researched, engineered, and monitored by Morningstar Investment Services, along with complete client account-management capabilities and sales support.

Before joining Morningstar, Lutschaunig was executive vice president and director of research for Strategic Advisers, Inc., a Fidelity Investments company. At Fidelity, he was directly responsible for more than $11 billion in discretionary assets under management. Lutschaunig also built the firm's investment-management infrastructure, created a portfolio management process, and directed a mutual-fund research and analysis team.
