Morningstar Announces Speakers, Agenda for 29th Annual Investment Conference, April 26-28

CHICAGO, March 2, 2017—Morningstar, Inc. (NASDAQ: MORN), a leading provider of independent investment research, today announced the agenda for its 29th annual investment conference for financial advisors being held Wednesday, April 26, through Friday, April 28, at McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago.

Morningstar Chief Executive Officer Kunal Kapoor will deliver opening remarks at the conference on April 26, followed by Wikipedia Co-Founder Jimmy Wales, who will give the opening keynote address. Financial journalist and best-selling author Michael Lewis will address attendees on April 27, and Vanguard Founder John Bogle will speak to attendees by videoconference that afternoon. BlackRock Founder, Chairman, and Chief Executive Officer Larry Fink will close the conference with his keynote session on April 28. Main stage speakers include Michael Kitces, partner and director of research, Pinnacle Advisory Group, and Josh Brown, chief executive officer, Ritholtz Wealth Management.

“This year’s conference features an all-star lineup of industry experts who will share their views on navigating this evolving environment for investors and financial advisors,” Laura Pavlenko Lutton, Morningstar’s director of manager research, North America, said. “Our conversations this year will revolve around several timely themes, including adapting to disruptive change, incorporating behavioral finance into the financial planning process, the role of technology in enabling advice, and more.”

New this year, conference attendees can participate in the conference’s interactive Innovation Lab, previewing upcoming developments in Morningstar’s products and research and providing feedback in user testing groups.

Conference general sessions will cover fund industry trends, financial psychology, the competitive landscape for asset managers, and the market outlook for fixed income. Breakout sessions will explore topics such as best practices for the modern financial advisor, navigating changing interest rates, and goals-based risk as well as insights from top fund managers across asset classes.

Research Showcase
Morningstar also offers its free research showcase for registered attendees from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. CT on April 26 at McCormick Place. Morningstar experts will present the one-hour sessions, ranging from sustainable income strategies and the latest techniques in behavioral finance to new analytical tools for evaluating funds.
