Morningstar Announces Agenda for Morningstar Institutional Conference in Hong Kong on 6 June

HONG KONG, 10 May 2017—Morningstar Asia Limited, a subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. (NASDAQ: MORN), today announced the agenda and speakers for its fourth Pan-Asian Morningstar Institutional Conference, which will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong on 6 June 2017.

The 2017 Morningstar Institutional Conference Asia will explore the opportunities that arise from the intersection of technology and consumerism and what this means for the provision of advice in Asia. Morningstar expects more than 150 investment professionals from across Asia to attend.

There will be two morning keynote speakers: Ashley Alder, chief executive officer of the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong, will provide insights into financial innovation in wealth management from the regulator’s perspective; and Kunal Kapoor, chief executive officer of Morningstar, will share his views on putting investors first in the latest wealth management landscape. Attendees will also hear from afternoon keynote speaker Cheah Cheng Hye, chairman and co-chief investment officer of Value Partners, in a conversation with Jeffrey Ptak, Morningstar’s global director of manager research, about how he built his investment career and founded Value Partners, the first publicly listed manager in Hong Kong with ambitions to grow.

Additional highlights of this year’s conference include:

  • Neil Dwane, global strategist, Allianz Global Investors; Russ Koesterich, managing director and head of asset allocation, BlackRock; and Andrew Lill, chief investment officer, Asia Pacific, Morningstar Investment Management Australia, on their macro outlook given the ever-changing geopolitical landscape.
  • Neeraj Seth, managing director, head of Asian credit, BlackRock; and Stephen Chang, managing director, head of Asian fixed income, JPMorgan, on their insights on the Asian fixed income market.
  • Jon Everill, head of personal investing, Asia Pacific, Fidelity International, on digital disruption and the future of financial advice.
  • Arnout van Rijn, chief investment officer, Robeco Asia Pacific; Bin Shi, managing director, china equities, UBS Global Asset Management; and Vinay Agarwal, director, portfolio manager, First State Stewart Asia, on surviving the next wave of creative disruptions in Asian equities.
  • Charles Wong, co-founder and chief executive officer, Privé Financial; Michael Haupt, chief operating officer, Vontobel Wealth Management; and Stewart Aldcroft, chief executive officer of CitiTrust, on the intersection between fintech and the provision of advice in Asia.
  • Mandy Chan, head of China and Hong Kong equities, HSBC Global Asset Management; Lorraine Tan, director of equity research, Asia, Morningstar Investment Adviser Singapore; and Chok Wai Lee, senior equity analyst, Morningstar Investment Adviser Singapore, on how China’s changing demographics is reshaping the investment landscape.
  • Dan Lefkovitz, content strategist, Morningstar Indexes, on the role of indexing in a changing world.
  • Arthur Wu, senior manager research analyst, Morningstar Investment Adviser Singapore, on Morningstar’s proprietary Mind the Gap research.
