Full agenda and speakers announced for the upcoming conference Sept. 6-8 in Chicago

CHICAGO, July 24, 2017—Morningstar, Inc. (NASDAQ: MORN), a leading provider of independent investment research, has announced the speakers and agenda for its eighth annual ETF Conference, Sept. 6-8 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. The conference features experts from across the exchange-traded fund (ETF) industry including Morningstar analysts, who will discuss tactics, strategies, and portfolio insights for financial professionals.

“The ETF industry has exceeded investor expectations, with more than 2,000 exchange-traded products listed on U.S. exchanges and more than $2.9 trillion in assets under management. Investors have more options today—especially in the ETF space—than ever before,” said Ben Johnson, CFA, Morningstar’s director of global ETF and passive strategies research. “At our conference, we strive to provide a holistic view of the options available to ETF investors, and that means discussing and debating strategy, tactics, and proven solutions.”

Joe Davis, global chief economist and global head of Vanguard Investment Strategy Group, will deliver the opening keynote address on Wednesday, Sept. 6. Richard Thaler, Charles R. Walgreen Distinguished Service Professor of behavioral science and economics at The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, will give the keynote luncheon address on Thursday, Sept. 7.

General session speakers on Thursday, Sept. 7 are Andrew Ang, BlackRock; Chris Brightman, CFA, Research Affiliates; and Barry Ritholtz, Ritholtz Wealth Management. Jamil Baz, PIMCO, will address attendees on Friday, Sept. 8.

The conference offers 10 breakout sessions, where speakers from BlackRock/iShares, Fidelity Investments, PIMCO, State Street Global Advisors, Vanguard, and WisdomTree, among other companies, will cover an array of timely topics, including the rise of passive investing, liquid alternatives, and the evolving regulatory landscape.

The conference will kick off with Morningstar’s research showcase on Sept. 6 from 1-4 p.m. CT, led by Johnson and Alex Bryan, Morningstar’s director of passive strategies research for North America. They will share key findings from recent research including Morningstar’s Active/Passive Barometer and the annual global strategic beta landscape report.
