The Group: Morningstar’s Research group provides independent analysis on individual securities, funds, markets, and portfolios. The Research group also provides data on hundreds of thousands of investment offerings, including stocks, mutual funds, and similar vehicles, along with real-time global market data on millions of equities, indexes, futures, options, commodities, and precious metals, in addition to foreign exchange and Treasury markets. The Role
: Morningstar’s structured credit research and ratings subsidiary seeks a problem solver, analytical thinker, and solution initiator in the residential mortgage space. This role provides unique opportunities for mastering the key aspects of our business from in-depth collateral and deal analysis to client interaction. You will be part of a team responsible for rating residential mortgage backed securities (RMBS). This position is based in our New York office.

Responsibilities
+ Analyze the credit risk in residential mortgage-backed securities by performing tasks that include modeling cash flows and reviewing legal documentation.
+ Interact with issuers, bankers, legal teams, and investors.
+ Present transactions and recommendations to a rating committee, as well as articulate rating decisions and analyses to the public.
+ Collect, organize, and analyze data from internal and external sources for use in criteria development, ratings, and research reports.
+ Assist the team in building and maintaining various databases relating to mortgages and RMBS transactions.

Requirements
+ A bachelor’s degree and a valid driver’s license.
+ Two to five years of experience in a relevant field.
+ Excellent writing, communication, and quantitative/analytical skills.
+ Creative thinker who is adept at taking an analytical approach to problem solving.
+ Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), and Sequel software.
+ Experience with Loan Performance, Intex, and Bloomberg is a plus.
