Junior Data Relationship Manager

The Team: Morningstar Switzerland`s data team is accountable for the management and development of Morningstar`s proprietary investment funds database for Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Internally, the data team is responsible for the collection, validation, and provision of the highest quality, most comprehensive, and timely data. Externally, the Fund Data team strengthens our communication and relationships with our fund data providers as well as fund data clients.

The Role: As a Junior Data Relationship Manager, you will be responsible for data coverage, quality, and timeliness and will actively work with the team on data collection, quality assurance, and data enhancements. This position is embedded in a team consisting of a local data manager and an experienced data relationship manager but also working closely with our other data operations across Europe and China. This position is based in our Zurich office.

Responsibilities
+ Learn current data processes, software applications, foundation methodologies, and industry concepts to become an expert regarding investment data points and calculations, and answer data questions for colleagues and clients.
+ Develop and manage business relationships with fund companies.
+ Ensure the quality, timeliness, and completeness of company annual report figures, common financial ratios, operational data, and other statistics by: researching, collecting, processing, and analysing investment data, data mining, conducting trend analysis, and reviewing variance reports to identify incorrect information.
+ Monitor daily and monthly database and production processes using quality checks and business rule engines.
+ Interact with colleagues on the client support, product management, sales, and media teams to support their data requirements and resolve client questions.

Requirements
+ Proven analytical ability through academic experience.
+ Creative thinker with a strong analytical approach to problem solving.
+ Detail-oriented, organized self-starter who can meet strict deadlines.
+ Demonstrable knowledge and interest in investing and learning the complex structures of various investment vehicles combined with an enthusiasm to drive improvements.
+ Excellent German and English communication skills, both written and oral, are required; French language skills are desirable.
+ A bachelor`s degree or equivalent preferably in a finance related subject.
