The Team: Morningstar`s Software Division develops, markets, and supports all of our technology-based products and related services for institutions, advisors, and individuals. Key products include Morningstar Direct, a global research platform for institutions; Morningstar Advisor Workstation/Morningstar Office, a research and investment planning software platform for financial advisors; and Morningstar.com, an investment website with research, data, and tools for individual investors. We also offer custom technology solutions for enterprises looking for more unique or integrated solutions.

The Role: Morningstar`s Custom Solutions business is a fast-growing part of our Software Division. Drawing from capabilities throughout Morningstar, we provide our institutional clients with uniquely tailored software solutions. Our solutions range from delivering off-the-shelf core capabilities to providing completely new custom development. This role will be primarily involved in creating new software solutions that are developed to our institutional client`s specification. You will be involved in working with clients to understand their requirements, and will be part of a cross-functional team (product managers, project managers, designers, QA) that recommends and delivers a solution for that client. This position is based in our Chicago office.

Responsibilities
+ Oversight of complete development cycle from product inception through delivery.
+ Develop requirements, design, build, and employ products that meet current and future needs.
+ Work closely with the CTO and other developers on system and component architecture.
+ Provide mentorship to the development team.

Requirements
+ A bachelor`s degree in computer science or a related field.
+ A minimum of four years of development experience.
+ Strong programming logic, communication and design skills.
+ Background in web application and development.
+ Expert knowledge of C#/C++, ASP.NET, SQL programming, and XML/XSLT/XPath.
+ Experience in SOA design principles, refactoring using design patterns, and building highly scalable and responsive websites.
+ Knowledge of RESTful web services, large-scale data management and querying, and agile methodologies.
+ Experience with financial application development is a plus.
