The Team: The Index business leverages Morningstar`s intellectual property to create indexes that empower investors to achieve their goals at every stage of the investment process-market monitoring, benchmarking, and asset allocation. The unit offers a broad suite of global equity, bond, commodity, and asset allocation indexes.

The Role: The Developer Intern will gain valuable work experience for a career in programming. This is a part-time paid internship that requires 20-25 hours during the school year and 40 hours during breaks. This position is based in our Chicago office.

Responsibilities
+ Assist the designing and developing databases and applications that form the infrastructure for managing a family of global indexes.
+ Implement and maintain key databases and applications.
+ Assist in preserving operational infrastructure.
+ Ensure quality by enforcing Morningstar`s development standards while working with many departments throughout the company.

Requirements
+ Current enrollment in a bachelor`s degree in a computer science or engineering program.
+ Demonstrated skills in database design with some knowledge of .NET, C#, and Microsoft SQL Server 2005+.
+ Financial and investment industry knowledge are a plus.
+ Solid programming logic and excellent documentation habits.
+ Strong problem solving skills.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Solid knowledge of MS Windows platform.
