Senior Technical Project Manager

The Team: The Data division is responsible for collecting and maintaining data on approximately 375,000 investment offerings, including stocks, mutual funds, and similar vehicles. We also provide institutional clients with investment data solutions such as Morningstar Data, one of the Morningstar`s largest business lines.

The Role: Senior Technical Project Manager is a critical leader of the Calculation team in the Fund Data business unit. In this role, you will be a Technical Project Manager and leader who is comfortable functioning in a high-pressure, dynamic, and global environment. You will be the Project Manager pioneer in the Data business unit, bringing proven project management techniques and principles to a technical team, and facilitating the introduction of true project management to a team of individuals hungry to learn. We need a top performer who is prepared to think critically throughout the project management cycle, teach others the fundamentals of project management, and continuously seek improvements and efficiencies wherever possible to deliver high quality Morningstar data calculations. This role is based in our Chicago office.

Responsibilities
+ Define and communicate project plan to cross-functional teams, ensuring activities support overall success.
+ Ensure progress of multiple projects against schedule, within budget and to quality standards.
+ Define, manage, and improve the development process.
+ Mentor and educate team members and peers in project management methods and best practices.
+ Manage and drive change where needed to core operational processes, dynamically reacting to evolving client needs and competing priorities.
+ Manage each major and minor platform release worldwide, then collect and share valuable lessons learned.
+ Manage global teams to juggle schedules and resources.
+ Effectively communicate objectives and updates to all key stakeholders.

Requirements
+ A minimum of 10 years of experience managing highly complex and technically challenging projects.
+ A strong internal drive, a tenacious spirit, a collaborative method of working, and deep-rooted experience in project management.
+ Experience with KANBAN and SCRUM methodologies.
+ Proficient with MS office tools, including MS Project and Visio.
+ Self-starter, comfortable with implementing and executing Agile development processes and accepting responsibility for seeing projects through to completion.
+ Strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and management skills.
+ Proven success working in a fast-paced environment while still producing high-quality, detail-oriented work.
+ Bachelor`s degree; master`s degree is highly preferred.
+ Certifications in project management or investing are highly desirable.
