The Team: The Data division is responsible for collecting and maintaining data on approximately 380,000 investment offerings, including stocks, mutual funds, and similar vehicles. We also provide institutional clients with investment data solutions such as Morningstar Data, one of the Morningstar`s largest business lines.
The Role: As a Technical Team Lead, you will design and develop a variety of technical solutions focusing on the delivery of financial data for internal and external clients. This role will work with data collection and product teams to understand the client’s needs and deliver solutions to meet these needs. This position is within our Fund Data business unit and is based in our Chicago office.
Responsibilities
+ Design, code, debug, and unit test various software applications.
+ Support, maintain, and document various software applications.
+ Integrate software with existing systems.
+ Lead a global team of developers, Chicago and Shenzhen based, to complete projects in a timely and accurate manner.
+ Use development best practices to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
+ Collaborate with various internal data collection teams to implement technical solutions.
+ Assist developers and project managers in the development of project test plans to improve data quality.
Requirements
+ Four to six years of experience with .NET or JVM technologies.
+ Experience with one of the following programming languages is required: Java/Ruby/Python/C#.
+ XML experience such as XML, XSD, XSLT, XPath.
+ Strong ETL Development experience.
+ Strong working knowledge of SQL.
+ Highly motivated individual with the desire to learn new technologies and assume increasing levels of responsibility within the technology team.
+ Proven analytical ability through academic or professional experience.
+ Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Genuine interest in investing, including the asset management, retirement, alternative investment or hedge fund industries.
+ Prior experience mentoring or directing the work of developers is highly desirable.
+ Working knowledge of Linux (RedHat).
+ Experience with onsite/offshore model.
+ A bachelor`s degree in computer science is required; a master`s degree is strongly preferred. Non-computer science candidates will also be considered, if they have a proven programming track record.
