QA Analyst

The Team: Fueling the technologies that drive our products and support our company’s infrastructure, the Technology team consists of talented developers, network architects, and IT experts who help make technology one of Morningstar’s core strengths. Though our technologists represent a range of skills and knowledge bases, they all view technology as a craft and care deeply about creating positive user experiences. From Agile methodologies to mobile applications, to software as a service (SaaS) delivered from our private cloud, we push technology’s boundaries to build scalable, elegant solutions that help investors reach their financial goals.

The Role: As a Quality Assurance Analyst, you will work closely with the implementation manager, project managers, developers, and product managers to create test plans and scripts, and execute testing projects for new development and enhancements of websites or systems. You will be involved in technology projects from the beginning to ensure the highest level of quality. You will report to a Quality Assurance Manager for direction on the technology projects assigned to you. This position is based in our Chicago office.

+ Develop test plans, scripts, and other documentation necessary for testing.
+ Create automation test strategies for functional and non-functional testing.
+ Work with internal and external clients on testing implementation of products and platforms.
+ Execute manual, automated, and/or scenario-based testing on multiple platforms.
+ Work closely with development team to diagnose issues, resolve defects, and ensure that product releases follow project specifications.
+ Conduct internal and external QA meetings with teams.
+ Monitor product defects and maintain proper QA documentation.

+ A minimum of three years of quality assurance experience.
+ The ability to multi-task and manage several projects at any given time.
+ Strong attention to detail, excellent verbal, written, and analytical skills.
+Experience with HP Suite of Tools (Quality Center, ALM, QTP) is a plus.
+ Knowledge of web technology and XML and proficiency with Microsoft Office; some programming experience would be beneficial. 
+ Knowledge of established QA practices and the software development lifecycle.
+ Ability to excel in a fast-paced group setting.
+ Bachelor`s degree in information technology or similar filed is required
+ Financial or investment knowledge is a plus. 
+Automation experience with Selenium or other open source technologies.
+Familiarity with Agile development or Scrum would be useful for our environment.
+As we are always looking for talented Quality Assurance Analysts, you can further impress us if you possess skills in SQL or Unix/Linux as we will be hiring later in the year for teams requiring this skill set.
