The Team: The pursuit of quality at Morningstar is deeply ingrained in our culture and a key part of the value we bring our clients. Led by our chief quality officer, the independent Quality team measures, builds, sustains, and owns the processes across the company that help us deliver quality data, products, and services. Members of the Quality team teach employees how to use tools such as Lean Six Sigma to drive continuous improvement, deepen our client focus, and achieve lasting process excellence company-wide.

The Role: Morningstar’s Corporate quality team seeks a self-motivated, analytical Lean Six Sigma Leader with strong communication and facilitation skills. This role will drive client focus and lasting process excellence throughout Morningstar. This position is based in our Chicago office.

Responsibilities
+ Embrace & help implement a vision of continuous improvement that resonates with the entire corporation. The candidate must be able to partner with business leaders to develop and implement comprehensive business improvement plans that support the overall business strategy.
+Be the thought leader for the company’s operational excellence program. Own it. Drive it. Bring the passion and energy to engage others across the company to facilitate a wide and fast implementation.
+Continuous Improvement Expertise - Providing expert support, service and training to accelerate improvements and build employee enthusiasm across the entire company. Build a broad constituency of employees at all levels trained in continuous improvement that feel empowered to use the tools on a daily basis. Be the expert with Lean and Six Sigma tools & the overall Morningstar Quality program.
+Transactional & project support - Ensure teams across the company are implementing the appropriate lean tools to drive speed, flexibility and to eliminate waste from processes while improving customer (internal and external) satisfaction. Follow up & work with teams to ensure timely business results. Partner with business teams to develop and implement relevant metrics across the company to identify the gaps and drive continuous measurable results.
+Cross Functional view – Help solve problems & establish stronger processes advocating cross functional tem engagement. Help develop “One Morningstar Way” of doing things by sharing best practices across teams, leveraging cross functional experiences & promoting standardization.
+Client Focus – Be an advocate for external & internal clients. Ensure voice of customer is incorporated in all continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements
+Graduate degree required, an MBA and engineering degree or background preferred.
+10+ years of experience in large, multi-site organization/s, in a variety of staff and line roles.
+5+ years of experience leading and managing enterprise wide/ significant change in a dedicated operational excellence /continuous improvement positions.
+Candidate should know what success looks like, has the ability to clearly communicate that vision, and has the ability to execute that vision.
+Strong communication & influencing skills.
+Documented expertise in some combination of Lean (Toyota Productions System or its derivatives), and Six Sigma. Formal training and certification in these methodologies and tools would be a plus.
