Learning and Development Manager

The Group: The Corporate team unites a variety of functions at Morningstar including design, marketing, finance, quality, human resources, corporate communications, legal, compliance, strategic planning, and technology with the goal of keeping our business running smoothly. Each of these functions plays an essential role in supporting our company’s infrastructure, day-to-day operations, and ongoing strategic initiatives.

The Role: We are seeking a Learning and Development Manager who thoroughly understands the work we do at Morningstar and can successfully design a vision for learning and development. You will create processes for ongoing employee and leadership development and will ensure that programs and processes meet the development needs of our global workforce. You will also assess training needs and oversee development and execution of Morningstar training programs. This position is based in our Chicago office.

Responsibilities:
+Collaborate with global colleagues to define a learning and development vision and program strategy to support our global talent management aspirations.
+Design, maintain, and oversee ongoing programs including the Morningstar Leadership Development Framework and Morningstar Scholars.
+Coordinate training planning and execution for the Morningstar Development program, our entry level development program for early career employees.
+Oversee and collaborate with leaders on new employee orientation, mentoring, tuition reimbursement, and educational stipend programs.
+Align learning needs with competency-development plans; design and oversee training-related metrics and reporting.
+Support the performance management process, including performance review training and ongoing coaching.
+Partner with subject-matter experts and external vendors to deliver virtual, interactive, and instructor-led training solutions.
+Plan and oversee storage and delivery mechanisms on the Workday learning management system.

Requirements:
+A bachelor’s degree or higher and a minimum of five years of experience managing education or learning projects or departments in a fast-paced environment.
+Ability to tie learning initiatives to business goals, assess return on investment, and develop business cases for learning and development investments.
+Must be comfortable in international environments; language skills in addition to English are a plus.
+Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time.
+Experience using Workday, Taleo, or another learning management system is a plus.
+Must be a self-starter with the proven ability to problem-solve and multitask; a strong propensity for self-learning.
+Strong communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
