The Group: The Morningstar Investment Management group consists of our investment advice, consulting, retirement-solutions, and index businesses. Through our investment advisory subsidiaries, we use our expertise in asset allocation, manager research, and portfolio construction to create innovative investment solutions for institutions, advisors, and their clients.

The Role: In this role, you will work closely with Product Managers to support new account acquisition, new product development and existing product evolution. You will provide in-depth analysis of current and prospective investment product offerings, competitive landscape, and investor profiles. Your output will not only reinforce our value proposition with our current clients, but it will also provide our product management, investment consulting, and research teams with information to foster new product development and areas of research. The position is based in our Chicago office.

Responsibilities
+ Using both primary and secondary research, evaluate and report on, current and prospective markets for Investment Advisory Products
+ Provide Account Management, Sales, Segments, Product Development, Marketing and other areas with information and analysis relevant to the management, development and distribution of Investment Advisory Products
+ Work with Director(s), Product Management, Portfolio Specialists and Account Management to support promotion of Investment Advisory products in Client networks
+ Work with Sales and Solutions teams to provide pre-sales support related to the product

Requirements
+ 2- 5 years of relevant work experience.
+ Bachelor’s degree in field requiring analytical skills and aptitude.
+ Demonstrated research and analytical capabilities
+ Experience using database, CRM and/or investment research systems such as Quickbase, Salesforce.com and/or Morningstar Direct is a plus
+ Knowledge of designated product offerings, distributors, manufacturers and the competitive environment
+ The ability to communicate business goals and functional requirements effectively to any audience within the enterprise.
+ Experience in developing product specifications based on market information.
+ Sound understanding of technical and financial concepts.
+ Ability to take initiative, multi-task, and work unsupervised.
+ Ability to prioritize effectively and work in a methodical manner to meet deadlines
+ Strong analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
