MSN Money Goes Global with Morningstar

CHICAGO, Sep 18, 2002 – MSN Money, the award-winning personal finance offering from Microsoft, has extended its relationship with Morningstar, Inc., and is now including Morningstar mutual fund data on nine of its international Web sites. Morningstar's fund data now appears on MSN Money in Canada, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Japan, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Morningstar and MSN Money have been working together since 1997 when Morningstar began providing mutual fund data to MSN Money's U.S.-based Web site, www.msn.com

Morningstar, a global investment research firm, is providing MSN Money's global Web sites with comprehensive mutual fund data ranging from performance information to portfolio holdings to risk indicators. MSN Money also is using proprietary analytical tools such as the Morningstar RatingTM for funds and the Morningstar Style BoxTM, which help capture the risk and style characteristics of each fund and lay the groundwork for investors to build better portfolios and monitor them more precisely.

"Mutual funds continue to gain in popularity around the globe, and there is a growing need for comprehensive, independent, and reliable information," said Joe Mansueto, founder, chairman, and CEO of Morningstar. "During the past three years, we've introduced Morningstar investment information to 17 international markets, including Europe, Asia, and Australia. We are delighted to extend our relationship with MSN Money, one of the largest personal finance Web sites in the world, to bring Morningstar fund information to investors all over the globe."

"In these economically unpredictable times, consumers across the globe are seeking useful information to help them make more informed investment decisions," said Chris Jolley, director of marketing for the Financial Products Group at Microsoft. "Morningstar has provided data on the U.S. MSN Money site for many years, and we're excited to take that successful relationship to the international level, making it easier for consumers worldwide to research investment opportunities in one place on the Web."
