Franklin Templeton Renews Agreement with Morningstar, Makes Morningstar ClearFuture Guidance Available to 868,400 Retirement Plan Participants

CHICAGO, Nov 20, 2002 – In its effort to provide retirement plan clients with enhanced service, Franklin Templeton Investments, a global investment management firm with more than $75.4 billion in retirement assets, has renewed and expanded its agreement with Morningstar Associates, LLC, a leading provider of retirement planning and advice solutions. Under terms of the agreement, Franklin Templeton will begin providing free online access to Morningstar® ClearFuture® research, education, and asset-allocation guidance in January 2003. This new feature will be available for retirement-plan clients representing more than 868,400 plan participants through a link on the Franklin Templeton participant Web site, www.timetoinvest.com. Franklin Templeton will continue to facilitate access to Morningstar ClearFuture's online advice for Morningstar's plan-sponsor advisory clients. 

Morningstar ClearFuture, currently available to 4.6 million participants through more than 37,000 corporate and public sector retirement plans, is an online investment education, research, guidance, and advice service for all levels of investors. Based on participant input and available plan investments, Morningstar Associates will provide:

  • Personalized retirement planning
  • Retirement-income goal analysis
  • Suggested asset-allocation strategies
  • Innovative "bear-market simulator" to test risk tolerance
