Morningstar Names Kapoor to Morningstar Mutual Funds Editorial Post

CHICAGO, Mar 03, 2003 – Morningstar, Inc. today announced the appointment of Kunal Kapoor to editor of Morningstar Mutual FundsTM, the company's flagship print publication. He succeeds Scott Cooley, who was promoted to chief operating officer of Morningstar operations in Sydney, Australia.

"Kunal brings topnotch analytical skills to the Morningstar Mutual Funds editorial post," said Haywood Kelly, director of securities analysis for Morningstar, Inc. "The newsletter is one of our oldest publications, providing data, analysis, statistics, and research studies on mutual funds. Very few newsletters match the detail and the independent opinions of Morningstar Mutual Funds and we're thrilled that one of our senior analysts will uphold its strong editorial tradition."

Morningstar Mutual Funds was introduced in 1986 as Mutual Fund Values and became the most trusted resource within the fund industry. The semimonthly publication covers 1,600 of the most popular mutual funds, with full-page research reports for each fund.

Kapoor began his career at Morningstar in 1997 in the data department. He became a fund analyst in 1998, covering the American Funds, TIAA-CREF, and Fidelity families. In 2001, he joined Morningstar Investment Services, a wholly owned subsidiary of Morningstar, Inc. as a research analyst. Kapoor holds a bachelor's degree in economics and environmental policy from Monmouth College and is an MBA candidate at The University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
