The Team: Morningstar Canada seeks a Fund Analyst. Globally, Morningstar employs over 80 mutual fund analysts with seven located in Toronto. The Canadian fund analysts work closely with the US fund analysts to form the North American team. Our company`s mission is to help investors make more informed investment decisions by providing independent and objective recommendations.

The Role: Morningstar fund analysts are responsible for writing research reports on a wide variety of investment fund products. These include mutual funds, segregated funds, and Fund of Funds/Wraps. Our research process includes running screens in our database, interviewing fund managers, and investigating regulatory information. Morningstar fund analysts also research and write reports on fund-investing topics, as well as provide data and commentary to the news media.

Responsibilities
+ Research and write a variety of reports on Canadian investment funds, fund companies, and sectors. The research process includes running screens in Morningstar`s database, interviewing fund managers, and sifting through regulatory filings.
+ Research and write "Insight" articles and other reports on various investment topics.
+ Conduct due diligence visits with fund companies and portfolio managers.
+ Appear in live and taped broadcasts for Morningstar`s website and news media.
+ Coordinate with data operations to ensure required data and methodologies are in place to support products.
+ Provide data and commentary to the news media as needed.

Requirements
+ A bachelor or master`s degree.
+ CFA designation, or enrolment in the program.
+ Completion of the Canadian Securities Course is desirable.
+ At least two years of employment experience in the investment industry.
+ Strong knowledge of the investment industry, especially mutual funds.
+ Excellent writing and communication skills, public speaking and media experience are strongly desired.
+ A knack for number crunching and problem solving.
+ Strong time management skills.
+ Skilled with PC and various software applications (including Microsoft Office™), with strong preference to those with advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel™.
+ Knowledge of visual basic for applications (VBA) and/or SQL is an asset.
