The Role: Institutional Software`s Business Development Program (BDP) premiered as the gateway into a rewarding career within the Institutional Software business unit and is a great opportunity for you to build a well-rounded skill set as you progress in your career growth here at Morningstar. Having exposure to the commercial aspects of Morningstar`s business, along with the ability to interpret customers` needs and represent our capabilities in an expert manner, are coveted skills for nearly every position across our organization. In this respect, the BDP is preparation for your future role in product management, product development, consulting, sales or any other field you may decide to pursue at Morningstar.
Your first post acts as your training ground within the product consultant teams. During this time, the focus is on becoming a product expert, improving financial knowledge and gaining expertise from your fellow team members. You will respond to client queries on the phone or e-mail in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This in-depth, constant client interaction will act as a springboard for the transition to a Client Solutions Consultant (CSC). Your team leader will commit to your career growth and a CSC mentor will provide practical opportunities to make sure you`re ready to take the next step into the CSC role.
Once you`re invited to take on one of the CSC positions available, you will manage a group of clients, acting as their "go-to" for all things Morningstar. For existing clients, you will provide one-on-one consultations to ensure workflow implementation on the client side and act as the knowledge-base for all Morningstar methodologies and their implementations in our software tools. For prospective clients, you will partner with Sales Directors to reinforce their initial Morningstar user experience, demo`ing our tools to ensure they get the most out of their trial period. This service-focused consultative approach will provide you with indispensible quantitative, communication, presentation and client management skills, and will serve as a foundation on which to build your Morningstar career!
The first post of the program is spent in the Chicago office, after which, CSC opportunities will be available in a host of US-based locations. Please include a cover letter and resume.
+ Provide the highest quality service to Institutional clients through inbound call and feedback email activity.
+ Collaborate with Morningstar`s data operations, development, sales, and product teams to resolve client issues in a timely manner and actively support the Institutional client base.
+ Proactively suggest product enhancement ideas to the product team based on client feedback.
+ Work closely with the Academic Sales Director to serve as the CSC for an assigned academic client base.
+ Work closely with Institutional Software Training Manager to conduct Morningstar Direct and Morningstar EnCorr webcast training sessions.
+ Become a "product specialist" in an assigned area of Morningstar Direct and Morningstar EnCorr.
+ Provide quality assurance on all new features and changes prior to release.
+ Contribute to product research, service improvement initiatives, and other projects as needed.
+ Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to work with clients who have sophisticated institutional investment knowledge and business experience.
+ A team player with a hands-on attitude combined curiosity for financial knowledge, enthusiasm for the institutional space and a consultative, problem-solving approach.
+ Must have one to two years of work experience, preferably within the financial services industry.
+ A minimum of a bachelor`s degree or equivalent.
+ Excellent English skills are required; Spanish language skills are desirable.
+A willingness to live regionally upon completion of the program is highly desired.
