The Team: The Equity and Credit Research group develops and sells our equity and credit research to portfolio management teams worldwide, advisors, and online brokerages. We are one of the company`s fastest growing businesses and serve all of Morningstar`s key audiences, including institutional investors. This business group creates content for all of our major software platforms, as well as serves clients directly through research-specific websites and feeds.
The Role: The Data Quality Assurance Intern will be involved in a number of special projects designed to enhance the accuracy, timeliness, and completeness of data used in various Morningstar equity and credit research products and projects. This position will provide hands-on work experience and an opportunity to work within the equity and credit research industry. This is a part-time paid internship that requires 20-25 hours during the school year and up to 40 hours during the summer and break periods. This position is based in our Chicago office.
Responsibilities
+ Maintain the quality of our data by ensuring an accurate display of financial data in the equity and credit research products including PDF reports and web related products.
+ Participate in frequent communications with several internal departments including equity and credit analysts, programmers, and project managers to check and validate specified financial data.
+ Assist with testing new functionality during the QA phase of product website releases.
Requirements
+ Self-starter who is very detail-oriented and organized and is able to handle a high volume of data and meet strict deadlines with the highest level of accuracy.
+ Must be able to articulate his/her passion for investing, possess strong analytical and math skills as well as the ability to analyze and decipher large amounts of quantitative data.
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the major internet browsers.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required given the interactive nature of this role.
+ Currently enrolled in a degree program, preferably majoring in computer science, MIS, or a related field. Candidates pursuing finance or economics degrees will also be considered. Graduate students preferred.
