The Team: Morningstar Real-Time Data offers real-time data for more than 5 million global instruments including equities, futures, options, commodities, and precious metals on every major exchange worldwide. Brokerage firms, banks and other institutions power their systems with our tailored data feeds or monitor relevant trading movements using our market data application.
The Role: Based in London, as an Operations Engineer, you will work an 8 hour shift in a team responsible for Morningstar`s central systems 24 hours a day which are based in data centers around the globe. You will be responsible for pro-actively monitoring all servers, application software and network connections, as well as for detecting faults and issues and fixing them.
Responsibilities
+ Provide excellent customer service by responding to and efficiently resolving client issues and requests.
+ Assist in testing new software and installing updates.
+ Correct data errors.
+ Set up new systems/hardware.
+ Manage new data downloads, backups and creating and updating documentation.
+ Liaison to data suppliers.
Requirements
+ A bachelor`s degree or similar in a technical discipline with strong academic credentials.
+ A pro-active, flexible and creative engineer.
+ Ability to work in a demanding environment.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, which are necessary to work with colleagues and clients.
+ Solid working knowledge of all Windows operating systems and PC hardware.
+ Broad understanding of IP communications and technologies.
+ Documentation skills and organizational skills are key.
+ Experience with monitoring systems such as SNMPc, some development experience in the past and any experience in the financial and investment industry is a plus.
