| | If you currently subscribe to monthly or quarterly Principia modules, and purchase a one-time (annual) disk, it's possible that the new disks you receive may eventually not work with older, one-time disks as Principia technology advances. We cannot guarantee one-time disks to work with current Principia subscriptions. We recommend installing one-time disks to a separate computer.

| 1. | Exit any open applications, including anti-virus applications and online services. Insert the CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive. The Enter Information Dialog appears. Here, type in your Principia Access Code, which you'll find at the bottom of your Principia mailing label. Click Next. If the Enter Information dialog box does not appear, point to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs. Click Install to begin. |
| | 2. | After a moment, the Welcome dialog appears. Click Next. The Software License Agreement appears. To accept its terms, read the license agreement and click yes. | |
| | 3. | The Select Type of Installation dialog box appears. Select Single User Installation. | |
| | 4. | The Choose Destination Location dialog box appears. Principia will be installed to the default location of C:\Program Files\MorningstarPrincipia, unless you specify otherwise. To select a different location, click Browse or type in a new drive and directory and click OK. Click Next. | |
| | 5. | Select an installation type from the Setup Type dialog. Select an option for installing Principia: Typical or Custom.td> |
| Typical
This option lets you accept the default installation directory or specify a new location. If you select this option, you should leave the CD-ROM in the drive when using Principia.
Custom
Principia Mutual Funds and Principia Variable Annuities/Life: Choose Custom Installation to install the Complete Holdings to the installation destination location. If you leave the Complete Holdings on the CD-ROM, you should leave the disc in the drive when using Principia.
Principia Mutual Funds Advanced: Choose Custom Installation to install Morningstar Page files to the installation destination location. If you leave the Morningstar Page files on the CD-ROM, leave the disc in the drive when using Principia.
Once you select Custom Installation, you will be asked to copy certain groups of files to the location you specified earlier or leave the files on the CD-ROM. Select the appropriate options for your situation and click Next. The Select Components screen appears. Accept the default for all files unless your system requires otherwise. Click Next.
Accept the default Program Folder unless your system requires otherwise and click Next. Installation begins.
When all files have been successfully installed, the Installation Complete dialog box appears. Click Finish and read the Release Notes which contain useful information about changes to the software.
