CHICAGO, May 12, 2003 MFS Investment Management, a premier global asset management company, has selected the Morningstar® Advisor WorkstationSM, an online investment planning system, for use by its affiliated advisors.
MFS Investment Management currently offers Morningstar's online advice service to more than 1 million participants in more than 8,500 retirement plans through the MFS Retirement Access Web site. Morningstar also provides MFS with custom mutual fund and variable annuities/life data feeds and Retirement Profile pages.

With Advisor Workstation, MFS Affiliated Advisors can:
- Research MFS mutual funds and variable annuities/life subaccounts using more than 150 data points, which include detailed historical performance information, extensive underlying holdings data, and proprietary Morningstar statistics such as the Morningstar Rating and Morningstar Style Box
- Build hypothetical illustrations that demonstrate how recommended portfolios would have performed historically, taking into account taxes, fees, investment amounts, and schedules, including death benefits and riders specific to MFS annuity products
- Produce additional client communication materials such as investment selection pages and portfolio reports that offer MFS disclosure and marketing information in a convenient PDF file
- Use a flexible needs and risk assessment survey, which includes an MFS proprietary questionnaire to help advisors gauge a client's risk tolerance
