Product Support Specialist, Commodity Data

The Team: The Data division of Morningstar is responsible for collecting and maintaining data on approximately 330,000 investment offerings, including stocks, mutual funds, and similar vehicles. Morningstar`s Commodity Data business aggregates market and fundamental data from several hundred sources for blue chip customers engaged in commodity trading and risk management. Morningstar Commodity Data`s strengths lie in building creative software solutions for market data collection, organization, and distribution coupled with a suite of applications to query data at the desktop and feed it to downstream enterprise applications.

The Role: In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact (via phone, e-mail, web-based support) for Morningstar Commodity Data`s clients regarding software and data questions. You will be trained in all of Commodity Data`s software tools and data products, and work closely with internal groups such as development, data operations, client management, server administration, and sales. It is a full-time position, and it provides a great opportunity for you to build a well-rounded skill set as you progress in your career growth either within the Support track or in other teams at Morningstar. No relocation will be offered for this role. This position is based in our Austin, TX office.

Responsibilities
+ Assist clients in accomplishing their trading strategy goals via our database, historical analysis tool, and related trading applications.
+ Research trade strategy, Morningstar Commodity Data product, and data content questions posed by clients.
+ Monitor hardware and software performance on clients` locally installed systems.
+ Provide training to clients on Morningstar Commodity Data`s data offerings and software products.
+ Interact with partner data vendors.

Requirements
+ A bachelor`s degree in economics, finance, computer science, or a related field.
+ Comprehensive understanding of economics, finance, and statistics.
+ Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
+ Works well with internal and external teams as well as independently.
+ Strong organizational skills.
+ Problem solving skills.
+ Attention to detail with the ability to multitask.
+ Strong client service and relationship-building abilities.
+ Advanced computer skills, including experience with SQL and VBA is desired.
+ Prior experience in a product support role is preferred.
+ Experience using Salesforce is desired.
+ ITIL Certification is preferred.
